Let Them Be Kids

LET THEM BE KIDS
Let Them Be Kids is all volunteer non-profit organization created to build community capacity on the grassroots level, while building playgrounds, skate parks and fitness parks across Canada. These projects leave a legacy of community members who are inspired and better equipped to lay a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow.

The Prince Charles Trenton Playground Project is a school and community based initiative to build the first accessible and inclusive playground in our city. The intention of this venture is provide a much needed playground while giving the community an opportunity to come together to make a positive change for ALL our children. The playground is widely used by the students of this school and extensively by the community after school, on weekends and during summer holidays. Please help us anyway you can as we come together as one to make this long time dream a reality!

Ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they work together.

Well, it is a week away until this dream becomes a reality! Thank you to all our volunteers and thank you to all our community supporters.
We are almost ready for build day on June 18th and the excitement is mounting! Our playground and school yard will look fantastic.
PRINCE CHARLES PUBLIC SCHOOL BROADCAST LIVE AROUND THE WORLD. Our project will be broadcast live around the world! Our project is being broadcast live on the world wide web. Tell your family and friends to watch the action and celebrate with us, just have them go to www.ltbk.ca to see our exciting work, LIVE!

We still need some tools for build day. If you have shovels, hard rakes or wheel barrows, please email Angie Stevenson at astevenson3@cogeco.ca .
If you have not updated your registration, please try to do that soon. It will help us with numbers for food, for daycare and for activities. Click on JOIN THE EFFORT!.
We have had so much community support. We have received almost $70,000 in cash donations for this revitalization project and we have received thousands more in gifts in kind.

We will be dedicating our playground to James A. Beale, WWII Veteran and recipient of the distinguished Flying Cross. James Beale, DFC, reflects what it has taken to make this playground a reality: service, dedication and generosity. We are honoured that he will be with us on build day.
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS!

I bet there will be lots of chasing up and down those ramps! Oh, and look at that accessible digger too! WHOOT WHOOT! Fun for everyone. There are so many panels on this structure. There is an accessible pilot panel, a store panel, a gear panel, a chime panel, a sign language panel, a planets panel and multiple steering wheel panels!! Under the big slides there is a door panel and a bench, providing a great playhouse area! WOW…the fun on this structure is endless! There is so much more to it too! The kids can hardly wait to actually play on this structure! What a wonderful play space for ALL CHILDREN!

Dot Mocracy Event a HUGE HIT!!

Hey Everyone!
Things are going really well with this project! The PCT students participated in a "Dot Mocracy" event where they helped design the playground.  The staff and kids were excited to be a part of picking out some great components! The triple slide was definitely a huge hit as was the curved net wall. There was a lots of  interest in some other equipment (i.e. climbing net and swings) so we will have to work hard to make sure we raise enough money to buy other equipment!
The Home Depot Foundation sent us $3000 for our project. Next time you are in Home Depot, tell them thank you for their support!
Pledges from the kids are coming in almost everyday. Thank you again to JB Print for the fabulous pledge forms!  The kids have collected $2000 already and there is more to come!
Thank you to everyone who has been a big part of this project thus far. We look forward to giving many people the opportunity to contribute in whatever way possible.
Soon we will post our playground design, so stay tuned!
